Along with regular cards, Fleer also created team logo stickers. On the back of each sticker is a bit of All-Star Game trivia (see below)
The first sticker out of the pack is serious old-school Expos. The logo stickers feature the cap logo in addition to a sticker of the teams "script" text.
Some stickers feature the team's logo on a ballfield background along with stats from 1980.
I love the helpful "Peel off here" instructions. You know, in case you are sure how the whole 'sticker thing' works.
I lived in Pittsburgh during the great days of the Pirates in the late 70's. This sticker is a reminder of how far things had turned bad.
The front of this card is the Giants logo. The backs feature the All-Star Game of a given year, showing who won, the score, where it was played, and a tidbit of trivia. I guess after 11 stratight wins, it's hard to come up with good copy.
Oh yeah, where did you live at when you were in Pittsburgh
ReplyDeleteI lived in McKeesport up the hill from the "Boston Bridge" and I lived in West Mifflin for a while. Oh yeah, lived in Prospect Park, Corapolis (sp?)...
ReplyDeleteBack when you could go into a drug store and see a box of cards on the counter, I used to get some of these. Often by the time I had cleaned them out of their Topps, Fleer, or Donruss boxes, packs of these remained to scratch the allowance itch.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they were the 1982 version, though, since the card side was mostly about World Series results by year (with similar artwork). I'll have to check and see if I have any of these still lying around...
