One of the most successful video game franchises of all time is The Legend of Zelda. Any kid that grew up in the 1980s surely remembers the awesome gold Nintendo cartridge that forever captured our hearts. Countless minutes blowing into the cartridge to get it to work is forever ingrained in my mind, for sure. This 6-card pack comes courtesy of the misc bin at the local store. It looked like the pack fell behind a box in the back warehouse and when they were cleaning up they found it and decided to throw it on the trading card endcap. Along comes me to buy it. The clerks commented that they didn't know the store carried these pack so off to the back they went in search of more Zelda gold. The quest in this pack comes in the form of 6 cards and 1 decal or tattoo. Foil cards come 1 to every 2 packs and gold foil cards come 1 to every 24 packs. I wish the cards depicted the older games, but it starts with the Ocarina of Time and goes through four later games. The complete checklist link (pun intended) is here on
The Trading Card Database. Grab your heal potions and fill up your mana.....it's time for a card-pack quest.
Look at that bottom foil sticker...the original Link character....I'd be happy if that is all I got!
#2: Princess Zelda right out of the gate. Amazing artwork!
#42: Dark Beast Ganon. More amazing artwork.
#41: Epona....Links beloved steed.
#89: Link's First Merge...your what hurts?
#33: Song of Healing. Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-B-A-Start
#96: I beat the back odds and landed a foil card of the mapmaker, Tingle....younger brother of potty dancer, Tinkle.
D7: My foil sticker.
Here is a typical back.
There you have it. I hope the rest of your week goes well!
My friends and I sat around and played Zelda for hours and hours. Not sure if we ever beat it, but we had a lot of fun trying. I've picked up some Nintendo cards over the years, but have never seen these. Pretty cool. Although... the use of 8-bit graphics would have been way cooler.
ReplyDeleteI was never a big fan and follower of the Zelda series - but Link To the Past is one of my favourite games ever and I picked up Twilight Princess for the Wii when it was first released and I found it to be a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteAn 8-bit graphic set would have been really cool!
