2010 Press Pass Portrait Edition Football Retail

Picked this up from Target for $2.99. Didn't really want to buy it, but changed my mind when I saw how thick the pack was compared to the other ones... had some luck in the past. Hoping for an autographed Game Day Gear jersey card. Four cards per pack, here goes...

#13 - Eric Decker

Drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round. Didn't get much action his rookie year because they were pretty stacked at WR, but he did manage to fumble for three consecutive games!

#28 - Ryan Mathews

Drafted by the San Diego Chargers with the 12th overall pick. Struggled the whole season with inconsistant play, injuries, and losing carries to Mike Tolbert. Ended the season on a monster game; looking for him to break out in his second season.

The back of a card

Would have been nice to have a different picture on the back, maybe an action shot.

Face to Face #FF19 - James Starks & Dan LeFevour

20-card insert set, inserted 1:3. Printed on flimsier card stock and the design is definitely a step down from the base set.

Dammit. Didn't expect to find a decoy in a Press Pass pack, but oh well...

#21 - Rob Gronkowski

Blue Foil Base Parallel (retail-only) inserted 1:1. Gronkowski was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round and had a solid productive rookie year.

Overall...
The cards have an elegant design and are printed on nice glossy, sturdy card stock. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the concept of a "portraits" set. This just basically means all the players are featured standing around without their helmets on... which seems strange for football cards. This might have made a nice insert set, but as a stand alone it is definitely not working.
