2020 Topps National Baseball Card Day

Greetings!

Hope everyone is doing well.  I'm off this week from the overnights, combining this with back to back scheduled 3-day weekends to create a monster 11 days off for using only 5 personal days.  It's something the co-workers like to take advantage of, scheduling vacations during this period to maximize their off time.  Of course, in the age of the pandemic, 11 days off with nowhere to go means stay-cations across the board.

I figured I should experience this once, since circumstances beyond my control led me right into the 3rd shift supervisor position, which I officially accepted Monday.  Unfortunately for me, the tendency to celebrate with retail card purchases isn't an option nowadays, with retail cards very few and far between.

I was at the LCS back on National Baseball Card Day to pick up a couple cards I won on their Facebook auctions over the past few months.  Walking in the door snagged me a pack of cards:

Just like prior years, the cards come in a clear cello pack, so you can see one of the players you're getting.  The Topps promo card was the last card.

There's the back of the card.  I didn't go back on the 15th; there were way too many people at the LCS when I was there for my liking.  Great for business sure, but a shock to the system if you're used to not being around a lot of people.

Here's who I got:

#1 - Shohei Ohtani
#20 - Matt Chapman

Not bad...it's a nice clean design.  Wanna see the backs?  Of course you do:

Full stats instead of a double-spaced paragraph is always preferred.

#19 - Aaron Judge

My gut is telling me that Judge image was used before, but I'll never be in the mood to check on that.

#18 - Jacob DeGrom
#17 - Jose Berrios

The giveaway card back on August 8 was Pete Alonso.  I believe the LCS gave him out for any purchase worth $10 (shhh...don't tell Topps):

#NTCDG-1 - Pete Alonso

That's an odd numbering system...National Topps Card Day Giveaway?

Anyway, that's the pack.  Hopefully I can another post or two up during my stay-cation, but we'll see.  Thanks for reading!

P.S.  This is my first post using the new Blogger.  Other than an odd centering issue for the Judge picture, it didn't seem to be too bad for me...yet!

Enjoy your vacation. Staycation or not... I'd embrace 11 days without having to lesson plan or grade assignments :)
