2022-23 Panini Prizm Basketball Blaster Pack

Greetings!

Hope everyone is doing well and are fully recovered from the Holiday season and New Years.  It was a good time overall and it seemed to go by quick, but that's usually how it is, isn't it?

There is one Target I know of where the trading card section is within the Toys section.  I'm not sure why it's set up this way; it's a regular Target (no grocery section) but other regular Targets have the trading cards by the registers.  I'm not sure of the stats, but I'm guessing that if the trading cards are stashed away with the toys, there's better odds that ne'er-do-wells can pack search to their hearts' content.

I don't get to this particular Target often as it's by my dentist and I don't head that way unless I have to.  

Once time there was a ripped open blaster of Prizm with cards scattered about on the shelf.  No, I didn't take any cards, but I did snap pictures of all the cards that were left on the shelf.  

Anyway, I had an appointment this week, which leads to this post, since I still had the pictures on my Drafts folder.  This isn't a pack per say, but I think it counts.

The blaster had 6 packs, with 4 cards in a pack.  There were supposed to be 3 Green Wave Prizm cards per blaster.  Here's what the hooligans didn't take:

Yep, all of the images will be at an angle so that you don't get constant shots of me holding my phone.

There's 300 cards in the set, containing rookies, veterans, and legends.  Here's the checklist if you need it.

It's the standard Prizm design.  How many of you can look at a Prizm card and instantly know what year it came from?

I was "today years old" when I found out dad Scottie Pippen's birthname was actually "Scotty."  Until today, I kinda assumed that Junior couldn't be applied to "Scotty" since his dad spelt his name differently.  It's like if there was a "Shawn Smith Jr." but his dad spells his name "Sean."

I'm surprised the Ant Man base card was still here; I'm pretty sure he was considered a good player a couple of years ago.  Then again, maybe the thieves weren't worried about base cards.

I'm assuming these are 2 of the 3 Green Wave Prizms, although I don't see any waves.  If these 2 are Green Wave Prizms, why weren't they taken also?  There's only 3 in the box!

#17 - Anthony Edwards (Dominance)

This was the biggest surprise of the leftovers.  Why wasn't this insert of one of the game's bigger stars not taken?  I still think Edwards was considered to be a good player a couple of years ago.  

Sorry, no backs this time, but it's Panini, you can imagine a close-up player picture, a team logo, a line of stats, and a paragraph of a game highlight.

Anyway, those are the cards.  17 cards were left behind, meaning we'll never know the 7 cards the hooligans deemed worthy.  I'll assume there were "hot rookiez" and inserts involved.

2016 LEGO Minifigures Series 16

Greetings!

Hope everyone is doing well.  I missed out on posting on my blogging anniversary, but in keeping with tradition, I had to post a non-sports pack.  Thing is, I had no non-sports pack at the ready to scan and post.  To the Scan folder!

As you can tell, this is gonna be a quick post.  

The Lego Minifigures line has been around since 2010 and they're currently on Series 23, with several themed sets, like The Lego Batman Movie and The Muppets, released along the way.

The concept's simple...Lego guys and gals!  Random dudes and dudettes to hang out with your Marvel heroes or chill in Hogwarts!  You get the picture. 

Besides the figure, a checklist is included in the pack.  Sorry for the bad picture; if you want a checklist (and see the other characters from the releases), here you go.

So, who was in the pack?

It's the Desert Warrior!  I don't believe there's any desert-themed Lego sets out there, so he's welcome to pop up anywhere.

I had to have run into a pack somewhere since I have pictures, but I don't have the Desert Warrior hanging out with my Transformers.  After trying to remember where I came across this pack, the background clued me in.  While editing the picture down, I remembered this was an open pack I came across while cleaning the Target toy aisles.  I guess the would-be thief opened the pack and was disappointed in the Desert Warrior.  In keeping with policy, I turned the opened package in at the end of my shift, but I was able to sneak some pictures before I did.

2001 Topps American Pie

Hope everyone is having a great 4th of July weekend!  I had meant to scan this in real quick and post this on America's 237th birthday, but when the neighbors invite you to hang out, you need to do the neighborly thing and socialize.  Here's a fitting pack for this weekend's festivities...a pack of 2001 Topps American Pie!

This was apparently a one-off set consisting of 150 base cards of stars from the 1960's and 1970's.  The pack says "Baby Boomers Baseball Edition", but I see nothing that says there were other "Editions" out there (if someone else posts a different pack, I'll amend the post label).  Here's a link to the checklist and inserts.

I will admit that I paid the full 3 bucks at the local Target when the set was released (the infamous $1.49 / $1.59 sticker wasn't on the back).  Why?  Well, the pack was opened at the bottom.  Is it pack searching when you can clearly see what's in the package?  Here's what I got:

Not a lot to say about the card design.  Then again, the flagship is just green, so maybe Topps was going for the minimalist angle for it's 50th anniversary.  Here are the backs:

You've got a different picture on the back, with lifetime stats listed, but by decade.  It's an interesting idea for this type of set, but the cards I got didn't do it proper justice; Foster barely played in the '60s and Flood limped into the '70s.

So why did I willingly purchase an opened pack of a set I had no intention on completing?  Because I could see that the other card was thick, and this ain't Upper Deck or Panini:

#BBTC-22 - Rico Carty (Timeless Classics Relics)

I didn't have many hits in my collection at the time, so yeah, that's why I got it.  Notice the scuff mark next to the "e" in "Pie".  The glossy part of the card is torn off there, going all the way to the border.  I don't know if it came that way, or if a pack searcher got to this pack and damaged the card in the process of trying to open it, thus abandoning the pack.  I'm assuming the latter, because of how the pack is torn open at the bottom.  Here's the back of the card:

Wow, cards back then included .260 hitters in their batting leaders cards.
