2007 Topps Allen & Ginter Retail

Photobucket

So, today I was in FYE and spent $8 on a box of 10 random packs of cards.

I have bought these before, I think maybe I've gotten a jersey card or something but nothing great. Still, its $8.

I saved this A&G pack for last.

The first thing I noticed when I went to open the pack was that the seal on the top was broken. I assumed I must have done this at some point.

Just to be clear, this is not a 1/1 sketch. They inserted cards with pictures of the sketches in these packs.

A couple D-Backs, Xavier Nady and a manager. Okay.

Wait, what? What are these doing in here?

Did somebody SERIOUSLY open this pack, stick two UD Vintage Cards in it, and then repack it thinking "oh, no one will notice"?

I noticed. Your move, Legends, LLC.

2007 Topps Allen & Ginter Retail

I picked up a couple of 2007 Allen & Ginter retail packs recently at a card show from a guy I've dubbed The Retail Guy for $3 a piece. This stuff seems to be very scarce to me, as I've only seen unopened packs two times in my life, and both times it was being sold by the Retail Guy. The Retail Guy only sells unopened retail packs and boxes, usually for a discounted price. I didn't complain about paying full price for the two 2007 A&G packs, though, and they were the last two packs in the box. I want every card I can get my hands on from the 2007 and 2006 sets, but I know I'll never truly be able to afford to collect them.

Here's the first of the two packs.

75 - Troy Tulowitzki (RC) (Tulo had a nice start to his career, but he's struggled with injuries and consistency since 2007.)

17 - Jhonny Peralta (I cannot resist pronouncing this guy's name Juh-hawny because it's just so wrong looking.)

276 - Zach Duke Mini (Who doesn't love a one-per-pack mini?)

AGR-BZ - Barry Zito Relic (Yep. Barry Zito Pants sealed in a tropical looking frame. It's true because you can see it on the internet.)

233 - Jim Thome (Sometimes the face says it all.)

65 - Andy Marte (Wasn't this guy a big prospect at some point for someone?)

84 - Casey Blake (The Dodgers looked good for picking up Blake late last season, but they're looking even better right now for extending his contract.)
