Greetings!
Hope everyone had a nice Easter.
Opening Day Part Deux has passed and the National Pastime is back in full force. The Chicago Cubs blasted and subsequently swept the Unaffiliated A's in their first game in Sacramento, while fans hope the new-fangled bats don't torpedo the season. And since the Rays have been temporarily relocated to the Yankee's spring training home due to Hurricane Milton, this will be the first season in decades where there will be no games played in a non-retractable dome in the U.S. Stats!
To celebrate, here's a retail pack of Series 1!
I came across this lone retail pack about a month ago. $3.50 for 14 cards. Let's see what I got:
#320 - Drew Thorpe (RC)
#320 - Drew Thorpe (RC)
#227 - Ty France
#113 - Marco Gonzales
#36 - Greg Jones (RC)
I'm fine with the design overall. The blogosphere seems unimpressed by it, but compared to last year it would certainly be a letdown. Yes, the name on foil makes it hard to read in certain angles, but if the card is held in other angles, the foil really stands out.
Topps says the design was inspired by a subway map. I'm a fan of the diamond with the position represented by the larger dot.
#65 - Gunnar Henderson
#40 - Joe Ryan
#119 - Daulton Varsho
#71 - Tarik Skubal
Joe Ryan's wearing Minnesota's City Connect uniforms. They say the design invokes a "Ripple Effect" from all the water there (they're the Land of 10,000 Lakes, don't cha know). Nothing makes a connection between a team and it's fans like...water.
#156 - Marco Luciano
#74 - Dylan Crews (RC)
Crews, along with James Wood and Ben Rice, headline the "Hot Rookiez" in Series 1. I got the other 2 guys in other packs, so my retirement is set!
#252 - Pedro Pagés (Rainbow Foilboard parallel?)
#SMLB-10 - Shohei Ohtani (Stars of MLB)
Insert time. There are so many parallels in Topps now (I read over 50!), I'm not sure what's what. I think Pedro is a Rainbow Foilboard parallel; I know it's not numbered.
Stars of MLB come in every pack. I like that they tried something different this year.
#29 - Aaron Judge / José Ramírez / Brent Rooker - League Leaders
#31 - Tyler Stephenson
There's 350 cards in Series 1. Here's the checklist if you need it.
Here's some backs:
I like that they put player pictures on the back of the League Leaders cards.
Anyway, that's the pack. I started this post a couple of days after my last one. I gotta get better with my turnaround times. Have a good weekend everyone, and thanks for reading!

Gunnar wins it.
There's a James Woods in MLB? I need to get one of his cards for my Same Name collection.
The Pedro Pages card looks to be a "confetti" parallel, I think. I've played the "what 2025 Topps parallel is it?" game a few times already.
@Elliptical Man, he's actually "James Wood", no "s". Not sure if that qualifies for your collection or not.
I actually pulled a relic of him from a blaster of Panini Chronicles the other day, just in time for the Mets/Nats series where the announcers have been hyping him a lot (7 home runs already this season).
Yes, sorry Elliptical Man, it is James Wood. I have made the correction. Sorry if I got your hopes up.
Even more bummed I made the error since he's doing pretty good on one of my Fantasy teams this year.
