2011 Topps WWE Champions

Photobucket

Topps sure is milking their WWE license for all it's worth!  The WWE Champions set reminds me of the WWE Action set from a few years ago.  Most of the photography is from semi-recent RAW, Smackdown and PPV events.  Some of the cards feature some great photography as you'll see.

#52 Kane Buries Undertaker

Who doesn't like the gimmick matches like this Buried Alive match from last year.  Kane (with the help of the Nexus) defeated the Undertaker and stood at the side watching his brother buried.  Classic stuff.

#45 Sin Cara

The highly touted Mexican luchador made his WWE debut late last year on Friday Night Smackdown.  I can't help they signed him to a contract since there were rumors Rey Mysterio was unhappy and wanted to exit after his contract expired.

#32 Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel

When the Nexus was still a threat to John Cena on RAW, the GM made Cena tag up w/ his rival and then WWE Champion The Miz to take on the tag team champs in Slater & Gabriel.  Cena & The Miz won, but the other team invoked their rematch clause immediately only for The Miz to walk out on Cena allowing the Nexus members to reclaim their championship.

#48 Randy Orton's RKO on Evan Bourne

Does this action shot not remind you of Stadium Club quality photography?  I remember seeing this match on TV.  Orton came out of nowhere and landed his signature RKO on Evan as he lept off the top turnbuckle.  Awesome.

#82 Cody Rhodes

Ugh, this scrawny guy annoys me.  I don't care if he is Dusty Rhodes' son.

#03 Randy Orton Defeats Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase

This one goes back to when the trio formed Legacy, only later for the teacher to whoop the students at WrestleMania XXVI.

#F6 Michelle McCool - Foil insert

These foil cards are inserted 1:3 packs and have a nice multi-color reflective look to them.  The back of the card however is the best feature IMO.  It lists the history behind different championship titles.  In the case of Michelle McCool it features the Divas Championship history such as Inception (2008), first champ (Michelle McCool), most title reigns (Maryse, Eve, Michelle McCool & Melina), longest title reign (Maryse - 216 days), current WWE Divas who have helf the belt (Maryse, McCool, Melina, Eve, Natalya & Alicia Fox).

This isn't the best WWE set I've seen Topps put out over the last few years, but it is a decent effort and affordably priced.  There are autographs to chase as well at the odds of 1:150.  If anyone is interested I already have a good portion of this set and only need a few more cards.  I have a few extras to trade as well.

I just bought a pack of this. You got two Orton cards and foil card. I didn't pull one.
